If you are reading this, you are likely a Warrior. You’ve been through the ringer. You’ve spent more money on Monistat and Diflucan than you’d care to admit. You’ve sat on those cold exam tables, explained your symptoms for the tenth time, and been handed the same "solution" that worked for three weeks before the familiar, maddening itch returned.
You’re tired of being told it’s just "bad luck" or "hygiene." You’re frustrated because you’ve done everything right, cut the sugar, wore the cotton underwear, took the expensive probiotics, and yet, here we are again.
In my practice, I see this pattern constantly. And I want you to hear this clearly: Your body is not broken, and it is not attacking you. It is communicating.
The reason the yeast keeps coming back isn't because the "killer" wasn't strong enough. It’s because the environment is still calling for the yeast to be there. We’ve been taught to treat yeast as an invader to be executed, when in reality, it is a signal that needs to be decoded.
IT’S HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT: THE SIGNALING ISSUE
We have to stop looking at yeast infections as a "germ" problem and start looking at them as a signaling problem.
neu·ro·gen·ic sig·nal·ing
/ˌnʊəroʊˈdʒɛnɪk ˈsɪɡnəlɪŋ/
noun
- The process by which the nervous system transmits biochemical messages to cells, organs, and tissues, determining their physiological behavior based on perceived safety or threat.
"In the Neurogenic Method™, we realize that recurrent yeast is often a downstream effect of faulty neurogenic signaling rather than a persistent external infection."
When your nervous system receives data from your environment (or your thoughts, or your history) that says "WE ARE NOT SAFE," it triggers a cascade of events. It doesn’t matter if the threat is a bear in the woods or a toxic boss or a memory of a past trauma, the body speaks the same language of survival.
MEET SAM AND PATTY: THE TWO STATES OF BEING
In the manuscript for The Primal Question, I describe two primary states of the nervous system: Sam State and Patty State.
- Sam State (Sympathetic): This is your survival mode. Think of Sam as your emergency responder. He is fast, aggressive, and focused on one thing: keeping you alive right now. To do that, he dumps cortisol and adrenaline into your system.
- Patty State (Parasympathetic): This is your healing mode. Patty is your restoration expert. She focuses on digestion, immune surveillance, cellular repair, and long-term vitality.

Here is the truth about recurrent yeast: Yeast is a Sam State party guest.
When you live in Sam State, your body is perpetually prepared for a crisis. Sam needs quick energy, so he signals the liver to dump glucose into the bloodstream. This raises your blood sugar, not because you ate a cupcake, but because your nervous system is screaming for fuel to "fight or flee."
And what is the ultimate, five-star, all-you-can-eat buffet for yeast? Sugar.
THE BIOCHEMICAL HIJACK: CORTISOL, GLUCOSE, AND THE IMMUNE "CHECK-OUT"
When you are in Sam State, your body undergoes a process of priority-shifting. If you are running from a predator, you don’t need to spend energy on high-level immune surveillance or reproductive health. You need to run.
So, the body "deprioritizes" the very systems that usually keep yeast in check.
DATES OF SERVICE: 2024-2026
OBSERVATION LOG: RECURRENT CANDIDIASIS PATTERN
[PHASE 1]: EXTERNAL STRESSOR / PERCEIVED THREAT
[SIGNAL]: SYMPATHETIC OVERDRIVE (SAM STATE)
[BIOCHEM]: CORTISOL SPIKE -> HEPATIC GLUCOSE RELEASE
[MARKER]: SERUM GLUCOSE +15% (NON-PRANDIAL)
[PHASE 2]: IMMUNE DEPRIORITIZATION
[ACTION]: SIgA (SECRETORY IMMUNOGLOBULIN A) DOWNREGULATION
[RESULT]: VAGINAL MUCOAL DEFENSE WEAKENED
[PHASE 3]: YEAST OVERGROWTH
[ENVIRONMENT]: HIGH GLUCOSE + LOW IMMUNE SURVEILLANCE
[OUTCOME]: CANDIDA ALBICANS PROLIFERATION
[REPEAT]: "KILL" PROTOCOL (ANTIFUNGALS) WITHOUT ADDRESSING SIGNAL
Do you see the cycle? You take the antifungal pill. It kills the yeast. But it doesn't stop Sam from dumping sugar into your system. It doesn't tell the immune system it’s safe to come back to work.
If the nervous system doesn’t feel safe, the pattern will keep repeating regardless of how many creams you use. You are trying to put out a fire while someone else is standing behind you with a flamethrower.
WHY THE "KILLING" APPROACH FAILS
Most conventional and even "natural" approaches are obsessed with killing. Kill the yeast! Starve the yeast!
But yeast is an opportunist. It’s not "evil", it’s just responding to the environment you’ve provided. When we focus solely on the "kill," we create a state of internal warfare. And warfare is… you guessed it… a Sam State activity.
Every time you panic about a new itch, every time you go on a restrictive "anti-yeast" diet that leaves you stressed and hungry, you are feeding the very survival response that created the problem in the first place.
In my practice, we shift the focus. We move from "How do I kill this?" to "How do I signal safety so this guest no longer wants to stay?"

I SPEAK SYMPTOM: WHAT IS YOUR BODY SAYING?
I want you to try something radical. The next time you feel that familiar sensation, instead of falling into the "Oh no, not again" spiral, I want you to ask: "What is my body trying to tell me right now?"
In the Neurogenic Method™, we use a tool called I Speak Symptom. We treat symptoms as a second language.
Recurrent yeast often speaks of:
- Boundaries: Where are you leaking energy?
- Safety: Where do you feel unprotected?
- Sustainment: Are you running on fumes and "stress-glucose"?
When you become an observer rather than a victim of your symptoms, you move into a state of curiosity. Curiosity is a Patty State activity. By simply changing how you view the itch, you begin to change the biochemical signaling that fuels it.
STOP THE CYCLE: THE NEUROGENIC PATH FORWARD
To truly stop the cycle, we have to address the three layers of the Neurogenic Method™:
- The Biochemistry: We must support the body in balancing the "wreckage" Sam left behind (like the blood sugar spikes and mineral depletion).
- The Signaling: We must use tools to communicate safety to the vagus nerve and the brain.
- The Concept: We must look at the "Primal Question" you are asking. If your subconscious is constantly asking "Am I safe?" and the answer is "No," the Sam State will stay active.
Healing isn't about being "perfect" or never having a symptom again. It’s about regulation. It’s about knowing how to guide yourself back to Patty State when life (or yeast) gets loud.
A MESSAGE FOR THE WARRIOR
You have been misunderstood by systems that only see your symptoms and not your system. You are not a collection of infections; you are a complex, beautiful map of signals.
If you are an individual ready to stop "managing" and start decoding, I would love to support you in finding the root sequence of your pattern.
If you are a practitioner who is tired of seeing your clients get stuck in this "kill-and-repeat" cycle, I invite you to learn a repeatable method to sequence care and provide the clinical clarity they’ve been searching for.

The cycle stops when the signaling changes. Let's start speaking the language your body is actually using.
