Turkey Burgers With Nomato Burger Sauce

Turkey Burgers With Nomato Burger Sauce

A little different take on your typical grill out with a twist of flavor that doesn't have high fructose corn syrup, sugars, preservatives, and is AIP approved.

The Burger sauce is made sans tomato, so great for those that typically get heartburn from the fruit, or are currently on the Autoimmune Protocol which doesn't allow tomato.  It boasts beet, peach and plum to give it the tangy mix of flavors, and its great for those that don't like beets because you won't even know it's there.  It gives it great color though!

In this recipe, it's best to mix the ground turkey with garlic salt and thyme, about 2 tsp each.  Then patty it into burger rounds and grill.  I put some of the sauce on the top side while the bottom is grilling and then flip and add to the other side.  You can also add some raw after the burgers are cooked.

I like to save the water after boiling beets, and this is what I use. It gives the color and nutrients without the fibrous texture.  You CAN use a whole raw beet if you like, it will just be thicker and contain more texture.  Why not boil some beets for one of your vegetable servings and use the water for the recipe!

Nomato Burger Sauce

1 cup beet juice or  1 whole beet

1/4 c honey

5 medjool dates, pitted

2 ripe peaches, seeded

2 ripe plums, seeded

pinch salt

1/4 c apple cider vinegar

5 strips of bacon, cooked ( optional)

Puree all in a powerful food processor so it breaks down as much texture as possible.

This sauce can be used on ANY type of burger, vegan or non.  Let me know how you like it!
