Fun, Healthy, Easy Snack Foods For Kids (And parents!)
When you just want something healthy and tasty and sick of your typical snacks, dive in to one of these tasty healthy treats. With just a bit of the sweet stuff, they are delicious without feeling the sugar rush to follow.
1. Apple and Peanut Butter Drizzle
Slice an apple and spread out on a plate
Drizzle peanut butter or sunbutter or any nut butter on top
Sprinkle a few mini chocolate chips on top
2. Peanut Butter Banana Rice Cakes
Spread peanut butter on a plain or apple cinnamon rice cake
Top with sliced bananas
3. Frozen Yogurt Cups
Use muffin paper cups in a muffin tin
Put ¼ cup yogurt into each one
Add raspberries, blueberries, bananas, etc and push them into the yogurt
Freeze
4. Roasted Chickpeas (Surprisingly very addictive!)
Drain and rinse a can of chickpeas
In a bowl, drizzle and toss 1Tbsp sunflower oil
Drizzle 3 Tbsp honey, a dash of salt, and a sprinkling of cinnamon
Mix together well, then pour on a baking sheet
Broil, turning often, they burn easily. For 10-12 minutes or until golden brown
Turn out onto counter to cool. They harden upon cooling and become crunchy to eat
5. Chocolate Trail Mix Bites
Melt one 4 oz rectangle of quality dark chocolate Like Ghirardelli 100% cacao with 1 tsp vanilla, ½ c honey, xylitol or agave
Pour by tablespoon dollops onto a parchment paper covered baking sheet
Press nuts, dried fruit into the dollops
Freeze until ready to eat
6. Frozen Banana Coins
Slice one banana
Put peanut butter and jelly on one slice, top with another slice
Freeze and eat once firm
***any nut butter can replace the peanut butter
